Thermo Scientific™ Buffered Peptone Water (BPW) is a non-selective pre-enrichment medium formulated to recover and resuscitate sub-lethally injured Salmonella spp. from food samples prior to selective enrichment. This medium provides optimal conditions for bacterial repair and multiplication, increasing the likelihood of Salmonella isolation in compliance with international microbiological testing standards.

Prepared from high-quality peptone and phosphate buffer, BPW supports rapid recovery by neutralizing acidic conditions that may harm injured pathogens—especially during food processing and preservation methods such as freezing, dehydration, or thermal exposure.
