The Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Yersinia Selective Agar Base (Dehydrated) is a specialized medium designed for the isolation and enumeration of Yersinia enterocolitica from clinical specimens and food samples. When supplemented with Yersinia Selective Supplement (SR0109), this medium ensures optimal growth and recovery of Yersinia enterocolitica, a pathogen associated with gastrointestinal and systemic infections.
Key Features
- Highly Selective for Yersinia enterocolitica:
- Specifically formulated to promote the growth of Yersinia enterocolitica while inhibiting competing flora.
- Distinctive Colony Morphology:
- Yersinia enterocolitica colonies appear as red bull’s-eye centers surrounded by transparent borders.
- Differentiation from other organisms such as Serratia liquefaciens and Citrobacter freundii is achieved through biochemical tests.
- Optimal Growth Conditions:
- Designed for incubation at 32°C for 18-24 hours for reliable recovery.
- Versatile Applications:
- Suitable for clinical diagnostic testing of fecal samples and for food microbiology.
